Qatar is fast becoming a go-to location for international sport. Just a week after the Qatar Tennis Open ended, the country has welcomed handball and golf fans from across the world. After winning the Asian Championships and Asian Games last year, Qatar now hosts two dozen of the leading global handball teams for the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship. Meanwhile, on Saturday, fans at Doha Golf Club witnessed South African Branden Grace win the 18th edition of the acclaimed European ToureventThe tournaments also saw a number of high profile concerts. Pharrel Williams and Gwen Stefani performed to packed stadiums at the handball championships on Thursday and Saturday respectively. 

Commenting on this season's sporting calendar, Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari, director general of Qatar’s 2015 Handball Organizing Committee said “Qatar is eager to demonstrate our professionalism in organising large-scale sports events. Qatar 2015 will be an important milestone in the development of handball locally, regionally and internationally.”

Commenting on Qatar's role as Golf Masters host, World No. 5, Justin Rose, said "you always know what you are going to get down here. You are going to get good golfing weather; you are going to get good course conditions. It's a place where players want to start their season.”
